What’s Your Number?
Years ago, when I was running a smaller enterprise, I determined that I would be successful if I was doing $350 a day in revenue. At the time, it was just me and some part time help. I was doing mostly repair work and selling some retail.
Further back, when I was doing repair work only, I remember $200 a day as my target. I also remember bumping this to $240 when I raised my rates.
Every day, in a paper calendar, I wrote down what I billed each day. I was determined to do all possible to get work done and create sales of $350 or more. At the end of every week, I looked back to see what my average daily take was.
Having a target and having a story behind the target is important. Why is $350 a day the goal? What will that achieve? Where will that put me? Can I envision how life will be when I reach that?
Once you’ve got the picture framed and the determination around it, the planning for it comes in. What needs to happen to get us to that number?
As I grow, I have new numbers. I always have a number.
Everybody needs a number. What is your number?
