Packaging and Assembly Member

J.L. Smith is looking for someone to work in our Packaging and Assembly department. This role involves packaging diverse machined and fabricated items for delivery to customers, tool finishing that does not require heavy machinery, and generally making items presentable to customers with consistency. Some desirable characteristics we are looking for would be attention to detail, ability to work independently, basic computer skills like how to find files and modify printing options. If you like working with your hands, this role is for you! No previous experience required.

Requirements:

  • Self motivated – can think and work independently
  • Ability to perform quality checks to ensure accuracy
  • Consistency at repetitive tasks
  • Ability to follow instructions

Job Duties:

  • Package raw materials and traded items for sale
  • Assemble and package many different items made in-house
  • Finish tools with light equipment like hand-held drills, manual folding press, sander, etc.

Customer Experience Specialist

J.L. Smith is looking for a Customer Experience Specialist for our Charlotte headquarters. This role is responsible for handling orders and inquiries in our Tool and Supply department. The ideal candidate is personable, helpful, organized, attentive to detail, and excited to become an expert in our products.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Respond quickly, accurately, and helpfully to all client inquiries.
  • Monitor email to ensure that all customer emails are addressed and answered timely.
  • Answer all customer calls, emails, and visits; quickly, pleasantly, and politely.
  • Receive and input tool and supply orders.
  • Help our clients by consulting with them on application of our products.
  • Ensure that all customers are billed and invoiced correctly, and payment is collected.
  • Interface with the manufacturing and fulfillment teams on behalf of our clients.

Requirements Are:

  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated thoroughness and attention to detail.
  • Warm and inviting phone presence.
  • Excellent writing skills with great spelling.
  • Consistent professional demeanor.
  • Knowledge of band instruments is preferred.
  • Some customer service experience is preferred.
