Cork Piston Washers

Our Piston Washers all use a 7/32″ center hole. They are carefully punched from the highest grade cork. Typically, these washers will be used underneath a felt as an upstroke adjustment on a valve instrument.

JLS Waterkey Corks

JLS Waterkey Corks are synthetic peel-and-stick waterkey cork seals.

  • Standard Waterkey Corks are 4.6mm (.180”) thick.
  • Thin Waterkey Corks are 3.4mm (.135”) thick.

JLS Black Waterkey Corks

JLS Black Waterkey Corks are synthetic peel-and-stick waterkey cork seals.

  • Standard Waterkey Corks are 4.6mm (.180”) thick.
  • Thin Waterkey Corks are 3.4mm (.135”) thick.

Advantages: 

  • The main advantage of using synthetic v. natural cork is that synthetic cork won’t deteriorate over time from water and saliva.
  • Synthetic waterkey corks are much easier to install due to their peel-and-stick adhesive backing.
  • Synthetic waterkey corks are more forgiving and will allow for more compression than either natural corks or neoprene.

JLS Technician Opti-Kork Waterkey Cork Assortment

JLS Opti-Kork Waterkey Corks are synthetic peel-and-stick waterkey cork seals.

The “Opti-Kork” line was introduced in 2018 as an aesthetic alternative to our popular JLS Waterkey Corks which are still available to order. Since then, Opti-Korks have become our most popular waterkey cork seals.

  • Standard Waterkey Corks are 4.6mm (.180”) thick.
  • Thin Waterkey Corks are 3.4mm (.135”) thick.

Pre-Shaped Trill and Eb Flute Key Corks

Trill and Eb (D#) Cork Material

The Eb (D#) E-flat and D-sharp Cork Material is unbleached.

The Trill Cork Material is bleached, but the bleached part is a very thin layer that will easily sand away.  View our product gallery to see a cutaway image.

There is no functional difference other than dimensionally. Corks can be cut with a razor blade to be shaped and sanded, filed and/or compressed with pliers to fit.
