JLS Sax Post Soldering Fixture

Soldering saxophone posts can be a challenge. That challenge is greatly reduced with our new Sax Post Soldering Fixture as it secures the post in position while soldering.

The Fixture has a through hole that you’ll insert binding wire through; the binding wire is then wrapped around the body and secured. Our fixture is designed to sit atop a post ball and apply pressure downwards. We’ve also given you the advantage of being able to mount the post’s key(s) in place so that you can locate the post perfectly. For “tree” or “gang” style posts (those with multiple balls but only one post) the tree tube takes the pressure of the wire outbound of the posts.

Of hardened stainless steel, our JLS Swedging Pliers are ideal for rounding and fitting hinge tubes to their rods, and to elongate a hinge tube to fit between its posts without end play.

These pliers come in an array of sizes to properly accommodate the complete range of hinge tube sizes available on woodwind instruments.

Working surfaces of the jaws are well polished so that the pliers are ready for use upon arrival.  (Please continue to polish the jaws occasionally to ensure the ultimate finish on the keys, and the best working condition for the pliers).

Sizing Guide:

  • 3.3mm – piccolo, oboe, and some flute keys (G# and B)
  • 3.6mm – most hinge tubes on flute and small hinges on clarinets
  • 4mm – most clarinet hinge tubes and small saxophone hinges (palms etc.)
  • 4.5mm – most saxophone keys
  • 5mm – extra-large hinge tubes on some saxophones

Precut Bladder Skins Yellow 403035 1

Precut Bladder Skins (20 Pack)

These pre-cut bladder skins are a great option for re-skinning pads without using scissors to cut the bladder. While this size won’t work for all pad sizes, the 32mm diameter is a great one-size solution if there ever was one as it will work for the most popular flute pad sizes and the largest flute pad sizes. It can always be cut down if needed.

We recommend using these bladder skins with our Flute Pad Assembly Dies. Wrap the bladder around the components of the pad with a small amount of water and Elmer’s Glue-All multi-purpose glue. For more on re-skinning technique, read our article of Reskinning Straubinger Flute Pads.

Yellow bladder is typically used for flute pads. White bladder is typically used for clarinet pads.

It’s the third hand support of hinge tube repair – designed to hold and help straighten flute, clarinet and saxophone hinge tubes.

2 Way Glue Pen – Fine Point
