We started selling pad making supplies after getting dozens of requests from techs asking for the materials they needed to recover Straubinger pads, or to build custom pads for the restoration of historical instruments, or even from people who only do occasional repair and don't want to keep an inventory of pads. While it's certainly far more cost effective and time efficient to buy finished pads for any modern woodwind repair, there are plenty of good reasons to know how to make a pad yourself and to have the materials on hand to do so.
